MELBOURNE Youth Policy
St Jerome’s Laneway Festival in Melbourne in 2024 is a licensed 16+ event.
So that we can provide a secure and safe environment for everyone, we are implementing our Youth Policy for 2024, which will form part of our Conditions of Entry and compliance for Liquor Licensing.
The minimum age requirement to attend St Jerome’s Laneway Festival in Melbourne for 2024 will be 16 years of age (that is, 16 years as at the date of the event: Saturday, 10 February 2024).








All patrons under the age of 18-years old MUST be accompanied and supervised, at all times, by a responsible adult.
A responsible adult is defined as a person who is 18 years or older and is:
- The minor’s parent, step-parent, guardian, grandparent, or
- The minor’s spouse who is over the age of 18 years, or
- A person who is acting in place of a parent and who could reasonably be expected to exercise responsible supervision of the minor - for example, a sporting coach.
A youth ticket must be purchased with an 18+ ticket, at a ratio of 1:1, that is, a responsible adult may supervise a maximum of ONE minor at the festival.
If a minor is found to be unaccompanied or unsupervised at any point, both the minor and their respective responsible adult will have their tickets cancelled and will be escorted from the festival site.
All responsible adults MUST also hold a valid ticket to Laneway Melbourne 2024.
Accepted ID for 16 and 17 year olds attending St Jerome’s Laneway Festival in Melbourne will be as follows:
- Australian Photo Driver’s Licence or Learner’s Permit; or
- Foreign Drivers Licence (English language or if not in the English language, must be accompanied by an official English translation (e.g. by any NAATI accredited translator) or an International Driving Permit)
- Passport from any country (either current or expired less than 2 years ago and has not been cancelled); or
- KEYPASS Photo ID Card or equivalent Proof of Age Card (**see below); or
- Australian Birth Certificate (certified copy is okay) PLUS a Current Photo ID (eg student card). We must be able to verify both your age and your photo ID, we cannot accept one without the other.
Anyone who fails to present an Accepted ID upon entry will not be allowed into St Jerome’s Laneway Festival. No refunds will be processed for anyone who is denied entry because they did not bring Accepted ID.
The Conditions of Entry and Ticketing Terms & Conditions apply to everyone attending St Jerome’s Laneway Festival. Promoter reserves the right to evict any persons engaging in illegal activities (for 16 and 17 years olds, this includes trying to purchase or consuming alcohol).
** Proof of Age Card issued by an interstate government authority, such as:
NSW residents: NSW Proof of Age Card or a NSW Photo Card issued by Service NSW.
WA residents: WA Photo Card issued by WA Department of Transport.
