YOUTH POLICY

Laneway Festival in Melbourne in 2027 will be a licensed 16+ event.

So that we can provide a secure and safe environment for everyone, we are once again implementing our Youth Policy for 2027, which will form part of our Conditions of Entry.

The minimum age requirement to attend Laneway Festival in Melbourne for 2027 will be 16 years of age (that is, 16 years as at the date of the event: Friday, 19th February 2027).

All patrons under the age of 18-years old MUST be accompanied and supervised, at all times, by a responsible adult* over the age of 18 years old.

A youth ticket must be purchased with an 18+ ticket, at a ratio of 1:2, that is, ONE responsible adult may supervise a maximum of TWO juveniles at the festival.

*Under VIC liquor licensing laws, a responsible adult is defined as a person who is 18 years or older and is:

the minor's parent, step-parent, guardian, grandparent, or
a person who is acting in place of a parent and who could reasonably be expected to exercise responsible supervision of the minor (for example, an aunt, uncle or adult sibling who has taken on this role for the event)

Accepted ID for ALL patrons attending Laneway Festival in Melbourne will be as follows:

Australian Photo Driver’s Licence or Learner’s Permit (From VIC or interstate);
Foreign driver licence in the English language. If not in the English language, it must be accompanied by an official English translation (for example, translated by a NAATI accredited translator) or an International Driving Permit.
Current Passport from any country; or
Victorian proof of age card or an equivalent from another state or territory of Australia*
Proof of Age Card (*see below)
Australian Birth Certificate (certified copy is okay) PLUS a Current Photo ID (eg Student ID Card). We must be able to verify both your age and your photo ID, we cannot accept one without the other. (see below*)

Please note that digital forms of ID are accepted (screenshots or photographs of ID will not be accepted), but we strongly recommend bringing a physical copy as a backup in case of network issues or a flat phone battery.

Anyone who fails to present an Accepted ID upon entry will not be allowed into Laneway Festival. No refunds will be processed for anyone who is denied entry because they did not bring Accepted ID.

The Conditions of Entry and Ticketing Terms & Conditions apply to everyone attending Laneway Festival. Promoter reserves the right to evict any persons engaging in illegal activities (for 16 and 17 years olds, this includes attempting to purchase, possessing or consuming alcohol).

**Alcohol: Any patron who wishes to purchase or consume alcohol must be 18 years of age or older and provide valid photo ID at all event bars, as required under the applicable State liquor legislation. Valid photo ID must be Government issued.

*Proof of Age Card issued by an interstate government authority, such as:

NSW residents: NSW Proof of Age Card or a NSW Photo Card issued by Service NSW.

QLD residents: QLD Photo Identification Card

SA residents: SA Proof of Age Card issued by Service SA

WA residents: Western Australian Photo Card issued by the Department of Transport
